3rd Incarnation — Varaha
The story of Varaha Avatar, the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is a remarkable tale of cosmic rescue, battles with powerful demons, and the restoration of balance in the universe.
The Divine Plan:
In the distant past, during the Satya Yuga (the age of truth), the universe was a realm of cosmic waters, with the Earth submerged beneath the vast oceans. Bhudevi, the Earth Goddess, found herself sinking into the primordial waters, and her distress reached the divine realms. Witnessing this dire situation, Lord Vishnu decided to intervene.
The Birth of Varaha:
To rescue Bhudevi and restore balance to the universe, Lord Vishnu assumed the form of Varaha, a divine boar. Varaha was an awe-inspiring sight, with the body of a boar and the strength of a thousand elephants. His eyes radiated wisdom and determination, and his tusks were as mighty as the Himalayan mountains.
As Varaha descended from the heavens, the Devas (celestial beings) and sages watched in wonder. He plunged into the cosmic waters with the sole purpose of uplifting the Earth from its submerged state.
The Battle with Demon Hiranyaksha:
As Varaha reached the depths of the cosmic ocean, he encountered the formidable demon Hiranyaksha, who had seized the Earth and submerged her in the primordial waters. A colossal battle ensued between the divine Varaha and the demon Hiranyaksha.
Their fierce duel raged on for a thousand years, shaking the very foundations of the universe. Hiranyaksha, with his immense strength and cunning, put up a formidable resistance. He struck Varaha with powerful blows and tried to drag the Earth back into the depths of the cosmic ocean.
However, Varaha’s determination and divine power prevailed. With his sharp tusks, he pierced through Hiranyaksha’s defenses and vanquished the demon, defeating evil and ensuring the Earth’s rescue.
The Upliftment of Bhudevi:
Having defeated Hiranyaksha, Varaha lifted Bhudevi, the Earth Goddess, gently on his massive tusks. He elevated her above the cosmic waters, allowing her to once again find her place among the realms of existence.
As Varaha held Bhudevi above the water, his divine aura radiated a sense of security and protection. His selfless act symbolized the preservation of dharma (righteousness) and the unwavering commitment to safeguarding the world.
The Return to the Surface:
With Bhudevi safely upheld, Varaha ascended through the cosmic waters and emerged back on the surface of the Earth. The Devas, sages, and celestial beings rejoiced at the restoration of the Earth and the defeat of the malevolent demon.
Varaha gently placed Bhudevi back on the Earth’s surface, ensuring her stability and security. Her gratitude knew no bounds, and she thanked Lord Vishnu for his divine intervention.
